Dolly placed as Reserve Champion at the 2018 Michigan International Alpaca Fest. She offers very dense white fiber that rates extremely high in comfort level and is in the top 10% for multiple EPD ratings in 2022. This comes as no surprise given the fact that both Dolly’s parents rank in the top 1% of EPDs year and year.
Phenotype
Dolly is an adorable alpaca with a small stature, fluffy ears, and a button nose. She has a strong, compact conformation that is well proportioned. Her small frame is no indication of her ability to produce fiber. Dolly has dense fiber with great staple length, which makes her one of our top fiber producers.
Color Genotype: eeAA
Dolly’s ASIP alleles show she has two brown alleles and she does not carry black. Her MC1R alleles show she has full dilution. This genotype combination tells us she will produce light-colored offspring that includes brown, fawn, and white coloring.
Personality
Overall Dolly is extremely cute and lovable. She is friendly and is eager to jump in for an impromptu hello or snack from visitors. She loves carrots, but nothing compares to her love for apples.
Breeding Activity
Dolly gave birth to her first cria in June of 2020. Ollie is a beautiful light fawn boy that is fathered by Elk Jacob.
In 2021 Dolly was bred to Snowmass Coalition. Coalition holds top EPDs and will be an amazing match to Dolly’s already strong phenotype. This pairing produced a lovely white male named Francis. Francis has his dam’s long staple length, strong uniformity, and will follow after his sire in conformation and fiber fineness.
We repeated the 2021 breeding and we welcomed an amazing little girl named Financy in July of 2023. We say little, but she was anything but. Compact Dolly somehow produced a 19+ pound baby girl who was very healthy and very eager to get moving from the moment she arrived.
