Alpaca Yarn

The majority of our alpaca yarn collection is made from Michigan-raised alpacas that is professionally sorted, washed, and spun in United States mills. All yarn is produced in small batches, with some items produced by individual alpaca and some items batched by color and grade.

You’ll find our alpaca yarn noting these terms, as well as, terms like grade 1 (royal), grade 2 (baby), or grade 3 (superfine). This signifies the softness of the raw fiber, which is determined by machine testing or a professional “grader” which has inspected the fiber before processing.

We also recently added a variety of alpaca yarn produced by our partners in Peru. These yarn products are made in a highly regulated facilities that purchase raw alpaca fiber from small farms throughout Peru. We’ve personally toured the manufacturing facilities and we can verify the production process and testing were state of the art. Let’s be honest, the day we spent on our production tours was the highlight of our two week trip to Peru!

Our alpaca yarn includes variety of weights (lace, fingering, sport, DK, worsted, and bulky) and plies (2-ply and 3-ply) in both skeins and cones. While the majority of our yarn is 100% alpaca, we do offer a few specialty blends. Our sport, DK, and worsted weights will also offer barber pole and tweed yarns.

All products are shipped for free from our Thompsonville, Michigan alpaca farm via USPS.
