Chase is a sweet little man who is the offspring of Crescent Moon’s Accoyo Vincentia and Pronking Acres Edison. But more importantly, Chase is full of fiber and personality!
When Chase’s dam Vincentia was preparing for birth a stray cat walked behind the alpaca paddock and all the lady alpacas started to alarm. Because of this “alarm call”, Chase’s mother decided it was not safe to deliver her baby. She halted the process only to deliver in a panic late that evening. Thankfully, we caught the late delivery and we were able to intervene. The complicated birth contributed to Vincentia rejecting Chase as a baby. She rarely fed him and we humans had to step in to assist. At the time, our family had our fifteen year old son actively involved in the farm and Chase became his special project. Hunter would make sure Chase was well taken care of and properly fed. This continued activity led to a very strong bond between Chase and Hunter.
Fast forward a few years and Chase is the rock star of the 4-H fair and competitions. He and Hunter dominated obstacle and pack competitions year after year. Why? Because a teenage boy put the time and work into saving a helpless baby and together they formed a magical bond filled with love and respect. Alpacas are loyal creatures and Chase’s loyalties will always reside with Hunter.
Today Chase is our resident talker who enjoys mingling with visitors, begging for snacks, taking selfies, and being the primary goofball of our young male paddock. He is one of a kind!
