Pedigree
Jalapena is the result of a very nice pairing of Cabarello de Santiago and the daughter of .38 Special. Her genetics include a long line of proven champions with notable names such as .38 Special, IF Santiago, Principe Dorato, Legend’s Challenger of KPR, Casanova, and Revolution.
Phenotype
Jalapena is a striking female with a feminine look, excellent crimp, and great handle. This showgirl stands out in a crowd with her very unique markings. She offers beautiful colors of greys with an abundance of fiber.
Here 2022 EPD ratings have her in the top 5% for MSL (mean staple length) and top 25% for FW (fleece weight). She carries these traits from the .38 Special line and she is a powerhouse combination of looks, fiber production, and personality.
Personality
Since arriving at our farm, Jalapena has become a farm favorite. She is friendly, very loving, and produces fun all around her. She loves attention (even while pregnant) and has become the adopted mom to young Patrick. Her motherly instincts are amazing.

Jalapena’s ASIP alleles show she has black alleles in both locations. Her MC1R alleles show she has one dilution. This genotype combination tells us she can produce offspring in the full range of colors. Jalapena also covers the classic grey gene, which makes her a wonderful addition to any grey breeding program.
