Lineage
Patrick is the son of Nibbler and Reputation, so he comes from a long list of champion alpacas.
Nibbler has some of the best fiber on our farm. She has a 17.9 micron count and has a staple length of over six inches, so she produces oodles of luxurious yarn. Nibbler was born to Fun in the Country’s High Velocity and Fun in the Country’s Superman. Superman is a Color Champion with 25+ ribbons and banners. High Velocity offers amazing fine fiber with excellent staple length and holds a 21 micron count at seven years old.
Patrick’s sire Irish Meadow’s Reputation has secured 19 Champion banners, 5 Reserve Champion banners, and 25 first place ribbons. He brings amazing quality to an already great female.
Phenotype
Patrick has his dam’s long staple length and density, then pulls his crimp structure from his sire. While he is still young, you can see he has a lot of goodness, and we are excited to see how his fleece matures. His conformation is solid and well proportioned, so he will be heading to the shows as soon as he is old enough to compete.
Personality
Patrick has become the star of the show at our farm. He was our first baby born in 2022 and has interacted with many humans since we opened for our 2022 season. He is fond of small children and loves to eat snacks from their hands and pose for photos.
Color Genotype: EE a2a2
Patrick’s ASIP alleles show he has a black allele in both locations. His MC1R alleles show he has no dilution. This genotype combination tells us he cannot produce light colored offspring. He will produce offspring that are dark fawn or darker, with a tendency for darker colors.
